Charles Spencer

Charles Spencer is the 9th Earl Spencer in the British nobility, as well as an author and broadcaster. Through the 80's and 90's he worked as an on-air correspondent with NCB News, and wrote and presented the 12-part documentary series "Great Houses of the World". After succeeding his father as Earl Spencer in 1992, Spencer restored the family's ancestral seat in Northamptonshire, Althorp, which had been the focus of the family's wealth since the Tudor era with their profitable sheep farming. He also founded the Althorp Literary Festival, an annual event which features famous authors as speakers.

Spencer is the younger brother of the late Princess Diana, and delivered the eulogy at her funeral at Westminster Abbey after her death in 1997.
